Before you get started
Verify you have everything you need before beginning installation: your new HomeFi/ProFi Back Up+ (eero Signal), a Y-splitter, a power cord, existing HomeFi/ProFi (eero) network with Wi-Fi 6 or newer, and eero app installed on your mobile device.
1. Add an eero Signal
Open the eero app. Tap the + icon in the top-right corner, choose eero Signal. Tap Next and follow the prompts.
2. Choose the best location
Select the eero with the strongest cellular signal.
Back Up+ can be connected to any compatible USB-C powered eero on your network. Place the Back Up+ unit in a place with the best available cellular coverage.
3. Connect HomeFi/ProFi Back Up+
Connect the included Y-splitter to the power adapter.
- Connect the Y-splitter to the power adapter.
- Plug the short USB-C cable into your eero.
- Connect Back Up+ to the remaining USB-C connection.
- Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.
Using an eero PoE Gateway? Connect Back Up+ directly to the front USB-C port and use the included 140 W power adapter in the rear USB-C port. Do not use the standard Back Up+ power adapter with an eero PoE Gateway.
4. Wait for activation
The eero app will automatically configure your Back Up+.
During setup, the LED may blink while firmware updates and configuration are completed. This process can take a few minutes.
When setup is complete, the LED will display solid white, indicating Back Up+ is ready for cellular backup.
5. Verify your backup connection
Once setup is complete, Back Up+ is ready to provide backup internet service whenever your primary internet connection is unavailable.
When cellular backup is active, the LED on Back Up+ and your connected eeros will display solid aqua.
