How to Transfer Your Number from AT&T to Blue Ridge Mobile
Before You Begin
Before porting your number to Blue Ridge Mobile, make sure you have:
- Your AT&T account number
- Your AT&T Number Transfer PIN (Port PIN)
- An active AT&T account
- A compatible and unlocked phone
It is very important not to cancel your AT&T service before the transfer is complete. Your account must remain active in order for your number to successfully port to Blue Ridge Mobile.
What Is an AT&T Number Transfer PIN?
AT&T requires a special 6-digit Number Transfer PIN (also called a Port PIN) to authorize moving your phone number to another carrier. This PIN is different from your regular AT&T security PIN, valid for 4 days, and required to complete the transfer process.
How to Get Your AT&T Port PIN
Option 1: Dial *PORT (*7678)
- Dial *PORT (*7678) from your wireless device
- Follow the automated prompts
- AT&T will text you a 6-digit Number Transfer PIN
Option 2: Use the myAT&T App
- Sign in to the myAT&T App
- Select your profile icon
- Tap Manage or remove account
- Select Settings
- Scroll to Transfer phone number
- Tap Request new PIN
Option 3: Request It Online Through AT&T
- Sign in at AT&T Account Login
- Go to your profile
- Select People & Permissions
- Choose Wireless
- Select Transfer phone number
- Click Request new PIN
Finding Your AT&T Account Number
Your AT&T account number is required during the transfer process. You can find it on your AT&T bill, in the myAT&T app under the wireless section on the home screen, and in your online AT&T account. Be sure to enter the account number exactly as it appears on your account.
Important Information for AT&T Prepaid Customers
If you use AT&T Prepaid, the process is slightly different. AT&T Prepaid customers do not generate a separate Number Transfer PIN. Instead, you will use your AT&T account number and your existing 4-digit account security PIN.
Is Your AT&T Phone Locked?
If your phone was purchased through AT&T, it may still be carrier locked. A locked phone cannot be activated on another wireless provider until it is unlocked.
Before switching to Blue Ridge Mobile:
- Verify your device is paid off
- Confirm it meets AT&T’s unlock eligibility requirements
- Request an unlock through AT&T Device Unlock Portal
Once unlocked, your phone can typically be activated on Blue Ridge Mobile if it is compatible with the network.
How Long Does Porting Take?
Most wireless number transfers complete within a few hours, though some transfers can take up to 24–48 hours depending on account verification and carrier processing times. During the transfer:
- Keep your AT&T SIM active until service stops working
- Do not remove or cancel your AT&T line early
- Follow activation instructions provided by Blue Ridge Mobile
